The betting narrative for UFC 307 tomorrow night in Salt Lake City, Utah, revolves around Alex Pereira, defending his light heavyweight title against Khalil Rountree Jr.
It’s a stacked card tomorrow night, and the popularity of Pereira-Rountree Jr. is no surprise.
Aldo Continues Comeback
UFC 307 is Pereira’s fourth title fight in a year.
According to the BetMGM desk, betting from across the U.S. and Canada, most bet fights are Pereira-Rountree Jr., then Raquel Pennington-Julianna Pena, and Jose Also-Mario Bautista.
Most bet props are Pereira by submission (+1400), Rountree by KO/TKO or DQ (+475), Pereira in Round 2 (+375), and Rountree to win in 60 seconds or less (+3500).
At BetMGM, Pereira is currently at -450; Rountree Jr. at +340.
“Nothing really to report that’s out of the ordinary,” said Johnny Avello, DraftKings’ Director of Race & Sportsbook Operations. “Just good, solid action.”
Pennington Faces Off Against Pena
“We are seeing some interesting activity from bettors on the main event,” a FanDuel Canada trader said. “Pereira favoured with 83 per cent of the bet count and 79 per cent of the handle, meanwhile Rountree Jr. is holding 17 per cent of the bet count and 21 per cent of the handle.
“Oddsmakers have their eyes on a fan favourite market – Pereira method of victory by KO/TKO, which currently has 30 per cent of all method of victory stakes in the main event. Overall, the most bet on fighters are Pereira, Kayla Harrison, Joaquin Buckley and Kevin Holland,” said the trader.
Most Bet Prop: Pereira By Submission
The co-main bout between Pennington and Pena in the women’s bantamweight category has an interesting back story – Pennington, the title holder, is facing the former champ. Plus they got into a heated exchange at Thursday’s press conference. Pennington is the betting favourite at BetMGM, at -165. Pena is at +135, generating 65 per cent of bets, 45 per cent of handle.
Aldo, 38, is a former UFC featherweight champion who recently came out of retirement, returning in May in UFC 301, and sweeping the scorecards in a win over Jonathan Martinez.
Pereira was also in the news earlier this week, telling Sportsnet he was not going to change weight classes after UFC 307, after speculation he might jump up to the UFC heavyweight division to take on the likes of Jon Jones.
