Xfinity Live! in Philadelphia’s Stadium District is set for its first major expansion since the dining and entertainment destination opened in 2012.
Located in the heart of the Philadelphia sports complex between Citizen Bank Park, home of the MLB Phillies, Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL Eagles, and Wells Fargo Center, home of the NBA 76ers and NHL Flyers, Xfinity Live! is a joint development from Comcast and The Cordish Companies.
Comcast is headquartered in Philadelphia. Xfinity is the telecommunications and media conglomerate’s cable, internet, telephone, and wireless services brand.
Baltimore-based Cordish is a casino operator and hospitality conglomerate. Along with its three casinos in Maryland and Pennsylvania, Cordish owns and/or operates Live!-branded entertainment districts across the U.S.
In Pennsylvania, Cordish runs Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia located just steps from Xfinity Live!
$15M Expansion
On Wednesday, Comcast and Cordish unveiled a $15 million expansion of Xfinity Live! and the surrounding community plaza.
The project will transform the plaza into a two-story building highlighted by an “upscale rooftop oasis” called AVA. Other components include an open-air beer garden, a major expansion of the PBR Cowboy Bar, an upgraded turf area where special events, activities, and community activations will occur, a dedicated area where local food trucks will rotate, the implementation of state-of-the-art audio visuals and LED screens for optimal sports watching, and the installation of artworks that link the destination to the nearby community.
We are proud to continue investing in South Philadelphia to create an unparalleled experience for guests and fans,” said Blake Cordish, principal of The Cordish Companies. “This investment reflects our commitment to create a gathering space for festivals, sports viewing, and community events unlike anything in the area.”
Cordish concluded that the $15 million investment will ensure that Xfinity Live! remains the heart of the Stadium District for years to come.
Live! Casino
Cordish invested $700 million to develop and open Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. The integrated resort commenced operations in early 2021.
Live! Philadelphia marked Cordish’s second casino in Pennsylvania following Live! Casino Pittsburgh, which opened in November 2020.
Live! Pittsburg is a so-called “mini-casino” that houses 750 slot machines, 40 live dealer table games, and a FanDuel Sportsbook. The $150 million gaming venue is located inside the Westmoreland Mall in what was formerly a Bon-Ton department store.
Cordish’s larger casino in the commonwealth has over 2,000 slots, 140 tables, a 29-table poker room, and a FanDuel Sportsbook. In 2023, Live! Philly generated gross gaming revenue (GGR) of $136.9 million from its slots. That ranked eighth among the 17 brick-and-mortar properties in Pennsylvania.
Live!, which is most busy on the weekends, during Sunday Eagles’ games, and other home sporting events, controls more of the state gaming industry when it comes to the felt. Live! Philadelphia table games won more than $108.4 million from bettors last year, which ranked third.
Along with Live! Pittsburgh and its retail and mobile sports betting revenue, Cordish reported 2023 GGR in Pennsylvania of approximately $368.7 million. Cordish also reported $40 million in iGaming GGR.
However, a considerable portion of Cordish’s sports betting and iGaming income is shared with its online partner, FanDuel.
