Las Vegas Sands Announces Leadership Transition, Goldstein to Advise

Las Vegas Sands marks a pivotal transition as Robert G. Goldstein, the current chairman and CEO, prepares to shift into a senior advisor role starting March 1, 2026. Goldstein, a key figure in the company’s evolution, will continue his involvement through March 2028, focusing on government relations, new development opportunities, and strategic gaming initiatives.

New chapter for Las Vegas Sands:

Under Goldstein’s leadership, Las Vegas Sands transformed the gaming industry by pioneering the integrated resort model, reshaping tourism landscapes across Las Vegas, Macao, and Singapore. “This company transformed the industry from a gaming-centric model to the integrated resort model and, through a different strategic approach in each market, meaningfully changed the tourism landscape,” Goldstein reflected on his tenure.

Goldstein joined Las Vegas Sands ahead of the opening of The Venetian Las Vegas in 1999, where he played a crucial role from its inception. Under his guidance, The Venetian became a landmark on the Las Vegas Strip, despite initial skepticism about its all-suite, dual-purpose design catering to both business and leisure travelers.

“The opening of The Venetian was a turning point in the history of the Las Vegas Strip,” said Goldstein in the company’s press release. His leadership saw the introduction of significant cultural and entertainment enhancements, including top-tier Broadway shows and celebrity chef-driven dining experiences that have since become staples in Las Vegas resorts.

Goldstein’s strategic vision was instrumental in key corporate milestones, such as the sale of retail properties at The Venetian and The Palazzo for $1.5 billion in 2004, a landmark deal that bolstered Las Vegas real estate values. That same year, he guided the company through its IPO, establishing Sands as a heavyweight in the industry.

His efforts were not confined to Las Vegas; under his leadership, Sands expanded into Asia, opening Sands Macao in 2004 and pushing further developments in the region. His global strategy not only extended Sands’ footprint but also enhanced its reputation as a leader in the casino and resort industry.

Leadership transition and future directions:

As Goldstein transitions to his new role, Patrick Dumont is set to assume the positions of chairman and CEO. Dumont has been integral to the company’s operations, having served in various strategic and financial roles since joining in 2010. “Our family has great appreciation for Rob’s leadership and the many contributions he’s made over the years,” said Dr. Miriam Adelson, co-founder and majority shareholder.
